The Unknown

My unknown tulip has opened. I really have to pull out my maps. The variegated leaf narrows the possibilities down but the colour is off for anything I can think of off the top of my head. My best guess for the moment is 'Happy Generation'. It should be less pink and more red though. If I get around to looking it up, I will let you know.

Fade to White

My 'J.P. Connell' fades to white. It started out as a yellow bud and then turned into a beautiful yellow rose that I did not get a photograph of. This season has been a bit strange for bloom time and length and this is his first year in my garden. I think the two factors combined made him fade to white much quicker than he would in a 'normal' season. Turns out I love this white flower with the yellow center quite a bit so it all worked out. I can just see him climbing the trellis with 'John Davis' next season. Although it will take them a couple of years to fill the trellis, in my mind they are already there.
