Sweet Pea

This is the Sweet Pea that is full of seed pods. I can't remember what it is called because I ordered 'Apricot Sprite' which ended up being substituted with something else. I have it written down somewhere and will look it up in the winter... planning on doing a lot in the winter, aren't I? No rain today and sun for about an hour this afternoon so I should be able to dig tomorrow in the Bird Sanctuary at least. I am not going to dig anything else, other than Lily, this year because it is starting to be obviously too late for anything else unless I want to take a big chance. Lily prefers late division. Of course, there are still already dug things to plant from both my garden and Judy's; Jacob's Ladder, Lamb's Ear, Knautia and yellow Sedum. Once I get that in, I am going to move Lily, Winter mulch, Fall clean up and get rid of the stumps in the new front garden. That will be it for this year but it will be a good headstart on next Spring which I am sure I will appreciate then. All of that assumes no more rain for at least a week. I wonder how likely that is.

Love in a Mist

I am so excited ! My Nigella 'University Mix' is in full bud. The buds are all over the plants. These are seeds I dropped this year in the Sun Garden. Even with all of the very cool things going on in my garden today, like dahlia looking like cat's eye marbles and multicoloured funky roses, this bud is the most exciting. I have been waiting not very patiently for him. In fact, it has been rather like standing at the stove waiting for the kettle to sing. I have never seen Nigella before other than in a photograph and it wasn't a great photograph. Yet he captivated me. He looked like a little 3-D flower sitting inside a bubble of green netting. The flower should open blue inside the green netting. Even in bud, I can tell you that he does not disappoint. If there is anything negative about this plant, I don't want to hear it. I am so taken with him that I will have to learn the hard way if there is an issue but I am hopeful there isn't. Love in a Mist. My garden will never be a summer without him again.

Linda, you got me going on seeds and since I can't sow them, I thought I would look through them... again and again! It is raining here and I don't have to go to town for another hour so I decided to create some more rainy day fun for us.
